Zverev comes back from the brink to defeat Griekspoor in five-set classic
Alexander Zverev's Roland Garros title hopes hung by a thread on Saturday.
The world number four survived a marathon match to beat Tallon Griekspoor 3-6 6-4 6-2 4-6 7-6(3) in the third round of the French Open.
Zverev had two chances to get back to 1-1 but fluffed them both.
And his mood darkened further when Griekspoor teased him with slices and drop shots.
But the German fourth seed was able to turn things around in the third set, and he eventually prevailed in a tense fifth-set tie-break.
Zverev will now face Karen Khachanov in the fourth round.
